Our New Activities - A Festive Surprise?
David Jones has begun putting up its Christmas decorations, a telltale sign it is time to start thinking about the summer holidays. And while it may not feel like it, they are steadily approaching.
With the new holidays, as always, comes our new sample box.
Packed with Christmas themed craft, we’ve made sure to include items catered to children of all ages, abilities and interests.
Mini Christmas Pack
Starting with our Mini Christmas Pack, we’ve included 4 individual products that will feature in the sample box, and inspire festive cheer amongst the children at your centre.
The sleigh is a great item that aims to encourage imaginative play with its realistic design. The deep body of the vehicle can be used to carry small items (such as small gifts) and therefore presents many opportunities for children to be creative. As a product aimed at introducing STEAM, the sleigh is sure to push the boundaries for children and their critical thinking capabilities.
The rocking horse is simple to construct and again opens an array of creative avenues for your children to delve into. Its sleek body imitates that of a full-size rocking horse and moves accordingly. Children playing with other small toys and crafts from our range will be entertained as the multifunctional horse allows for extraordinary creativity, and is adaptable to whatever play setting your children formulate.
Our Christmas tree is not designed to challenge children with its assembly, but to inspire a sense of self-identity and individuality whilst colouring it in. The simple item stands up on its own and its details add realism and endless possibilities to express oneself through festive craft. We recommend creating miniature presents to put under the tree, and think outside the box when decorating your own piece.
The final item in our Mini Christmas Pack is our mini reindeer.
A cute design, the reindeer is moderately difficult to assemble and can be used in conjunction with the other products to build a narrative. In fact, we encourage children to be creative with the Mini Christmas Pack as a whole and create their own stories with their friends. We would love to see what you and your children come up with, so be sure to send us your stories.
Reindeer 3D Puzzle
Designed for students with a more advanced level of STEAM education, the Reindeer 3D puzzle is a complex piece that will require acute cognitive skills, patience, and tenacity.
Standing tall, our impressive design imitates that of a strong reindeer, very capable of pulling Santa’s sleigh.
However, the reindeer is upset. It is currently unable to pull Santa’s sleigh, as it does not have a name nor personality. It is merely a blank nobody and requires the compassion of one child to colour and name it, in order for the creature to assist Santa with his deliveries.
A challenge, this item not only aims to improve STEAM capabilities but heightens emotional responses to craft and other children. The interactions children should have with one another while undertaking this activity will hopefully be empathic and display an impressive level of maturity, as they learn to treat activities and others with respect.
Bauble Christmas Tree
Our Bauble Christmas Tree encompasses a unique design that is able to stand as its own decoration. Perfect for a gift to a friend or relative, the bauble allows children to write a message, draw an awesome picture, or write what Christmas means to them, before colouring the remainder of the tree. The simple design allows children of all ages and abilities to participate and we strongly encourage children to personalise their trees with different colours and creative flair.
